If there’s one thing that racing pit crews are known for, it’s their speed and accuracy. It’s the same for contractors and engineers. They need to complete their work quickly and accurately, so many of them have turned to Viega. Press is safe, reliable, and fast. No fire risk. No system shutdown. Secure connections in seconds.
Viega ran a sweepstakes promotion as part of their sponsorship of the JTG Daugherty Racing pit crew. The sweepstakes ran from March 4 – November 30, 2022, and the winner was given the option of either a 2022 Chevy Camaro or $40,000 as the grand prize.
Kelly Ammann, Maintenance Manager of 1 Vision Aviation in Salina, Kansas, was selected as the winner. Ammann has used Viega products for more than ten years. “I’ve been in construction my whole life,” he said. “I’ve done everything from plumbing to electrical to HVAC. With my current job, I take care of everything that needs to be done in the hangars.”
In 2008, Ammann was a journeyman in the U.S. Civil Service, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. “As a journeyman, I just wanted to learn anything anyone would teach me,” he said. One of the things he set out to learn was an alternative to welding. One of his supervisors was already using ProPress in addition to traditional methods and trained Ammann on how to use the product. He recalled one particular incident where a pipe had burst. “There was water going everywhere. I used ProPress and it just got the job done. The product is amazing. Once you use it, you’ll never want to go back.”
Ammann states that he was absolutely stunned when he learned he’d won. “Sometimes you see these contests and you just don’t think they’re real,” he said. “I’m not the kind of person who ever enters anything.” Ammann said a friend had seen the contest on Facebook and told him he should enter.
As for what he plans to do with his prize money? Ammann chose the cash option and is looking forward to shopping for a new Harley-Davidson. “I’ve wanted one of these my whole life,” he said. “I can’t tell you what a blessing it has been to win.”
